The point of departure for this work was the study of zoological gardens, which inevitably led to a study of their creators. The zoos are the materialization of man’s desire to organize the world as they please, to rule over it and to exert full control over everything in it. Thanks to man, animal species can live side by side in zoological gardens which would normally never do so in the same climate. It is out of step with nature indeed, but it is consistent with the nature of its creators.
Zoos provide conditions for many different species of animals to exist, but in fact they are an optimal place for only one.
